So old refurbished f16s shot down su 34

Pak f16s are still a threat to our su 30 ...
Astra and Astra mk2 will minimising the threat though

Jhumla news, this is atleast 3 days old and is based on the trouser shivering utterings on Telegram of some Russkie mil-bloggers.

Ukraine gov hasn't confirmed this, neither have Russians and if it was legit it would be plastered on CNN and BBC to rub it in to Rooskies.

stop dhoti-shivering over Americunt Wunderwaffe.

Yeah just like the last month when aj Ukrainain F-16 crashed while trying to shoot down Russian drones. Got the big telephone pole from Su-35 jammed in its tailpipe while it was busy chasing Geran butterflies.

Indian Mig-21s are threat to Pak F16s.

There is a possible link between the IAF MTA requirement and a Mk1A export sale.

Brazil has 40+ F-5 and 20+ AMX in service. For cost reasons Brazil may be considering a 2 type fighter/strike aircraft fleet in the future rather than replacing them all with an exclusively Gripen E fleet.

If Embraer could negotiate a package to set up an E-390 assembly plant in India (not easy) and HAL could negotiate a package to supply Mk1A to Brazil (relatively easy), a major deal of mutual benefit could be done.

Benefits, arguably

- Brazil gets a more cost-effective fighter for its air force
- Brazil gets a very large order for a C-390 assembly plant in India

- India gets a very good airlifter (possibly the best available)
- India gets a Mk1A export order
- India gets a C-390 assembly plant

C-390 looks like it will be a very successful product internationally. A market study::

We are just better off in selling them in equal numbers in exchange for buying an equal number of E-390 from them.

Brazil has also expressed interest in Akash SAM systems, Brahmos missiles and maintenance of Scorpene class submarines.

I thought it was GOI policy to go for 'Make in India'. If that is not really the case, I am sure that Embraer would be very pleased to build 40/60/80 airlifters in Brazil for IAF if C-390 is selected as the best type to fit the IAF requirement.

PS C-390 has been ordered by 7 air forces so far with another 2 likely to order soon - Morocco and Sweden, and UAE ,Saudi Arabia, South Africa as possibles in the near future. Not a 'Make in India' project of interest to India?

Why would Brazil agree to buy Tejas directly built in India when they are forced to build their planes in India as well? If a Teja fighter plane cost the same as a C-390 (I don't know if that's the case) then it is fair play to just buy each other's plane.

Wonder if Uncle Sam will allow this? both platforms use Burger engines and i'm sure Burger also has to give approval for export.

Brazil could be sold some F16s like Argentina for example

It's a good proposition for both India and Brazil. FAB (Brazilian Air Force) possibly foresees buying and flying a 100% Gripen E fleet as too expensive to do within its budget. Brazil is not under threat from neighbouring countries with advanced fighters. Arguably it does not need a fighter of the sophistication of Gripen E. Buying a number of less expensive light fighters of a different type may make financial sense. I believe that FAB is studying the idea at the moment.

India would benefit from assembling C-390 not just for the IAF but for other buyers. There will be a demand for a large number of airlifters in the next few years because so many delivered in the 1970's and 1980's will need replacing.

Indian assembly of C-390 would not be like Tejas, where the idea is to build the aircraft IAF needs then to shut down assembly. C-390 can expect to win orders for decades. Until a better 20-30 tonne air lifter is designed, C-390 looks difficult to match unless an air force needs the better take off and landing performance of a prop airlifter.

C-390 won't work for Indian needs because India needs to have airlift capabilities in the mountains. That's where the most pressing needs are. India has already vast wide connected railroads and roads. It's just in the mountains that IA has a hard time getting there by road.

If hot/high performance is crucial and C-390 does not meet the requirement, no C-390 then? How many types does India operate at the moment that meet requirements for providing airlift capacity in the mountains?
