Thought of checking this thread in hope that someone might have answered why we didn't use the auto-cannon and here you're, asking whether it was Meteor.Did they use MICA or Meteor?
These balloons are so huge that even that kind of - that number of ammunitions - that amount of ammunition set towards it is only going to cause a very very slow leak, and it's not going to come down immediately.Thought of checking this thread in hope that someone might have answered why we didn't use the auto-cannon and here you're, asking whether it was Meteor.
My guy, a single Meteor costs almost $2.5 million. You can buy a reconnaissance balloon for all of your birthdays for that money.
These ain't .22LR, they've something inside themThese balloons are so huge that even that kind of - that number of ammunitions - that amount of ammunition set towards it is only going to cause a very very slow leak, and it's not going to come down immediately.
You can't just pop the balloon and it's going to go away.
No Iaf objection is right. Single engine plane FTB is brain dead single shot idea to stall Kaveri prog, defame LCA and kill precious IAF pilots incase of any failure. IAF suggestion to use twin engine is all fine and dandy - why not provide a platform for the same? I wonder can old Sukhoi30K be revived and used as FTB? wondered what happened to more than 2 decades old platforms?IAF has no problem flying 50 year old relic aircraft as frontline fighter but does not want test the Kaveri engine even though it is already proven to be flight worthy
One Su30MKI was built by HAL for its own testing and avionics upgrade - use that.No Iaf objection is right. How would that work? Dimensions of al31 and kaveri are so different also su30 is much heavierOne Su30MKI was built by HAL for its own testing and avionics upgrade - use that.
Why do you want ONERA giving datas to anyone ?I read a news that the Tejas mk2 is gonna be taken to ONERA for further optimizations...so are these penny pinchers gonna take AMCA also there and risk leaking everything to enemy in case?
I don't expect ONERA leaking it to anyone as they are trustworthy compared to Uncle Sam. But chinese pests tend to infest everywhere looking for crumbs. Why do you want ONERA giving datas to anyone ?
Initially, the Su-30Ks were to be upgraded to final Su-30MKI configuration but were instead returned to Russia between 2007 and 2011.No Iaf objection is right. Post the negotiations between India and Russia, 12 ex Indian Su 30K found their way to Angolan Air Force.
IAF had nothing to do with it. The Civil admin is at fault. They went what was going to happen and yet fumbled the crowd managment.Stupid IAF along with their stupid records.

I am straight away accusing you of doing politics. No, In general Indian law enforcement doesn't have the tools to manage such massive crowds and it was IAF that was pushing this record for limca book of world records.
It's actually lucky that we didn't have any kind of stampede.
> We have some 600 or so fighters; ranging from most advanced Rafale to MiG-21sAs fighter strength dips below 1965 level, Air chief vows to fight with 'whatever we have'
Indian Air Force's combat strength is at a historic low with only 31 squadrons. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh emphasised adaptation with available assets while pushing for faster LCA production. The decline in force is due to retiring Soviet fighters and delayed replacements. He insisted on...economictimes.indiatimes.com
