Indian Air Force: News & Discussions (23 Viewers)

Something is pathetically wrong with IAFs equipment and maintenance unless they are over stressing the airframes due to lack of enough aircrafts to distribute the sorties.

Could be part of airforce exercise that is to supposed to commenceme later today. It's a Jaguar aircraft and Could be he was in earth mapping low altitude flight profile. Hence any technical difficulty at that height could give no chance for pilot to eject.

and iaf babus want to operate jaguar for another 15 years as claimed by binayak sir. i suspect that can jaguar even fly under omca mode, it would crash and kamikaze in indian territory even before it reaches ib

Jaguars turning into flying coffins. Blame lies with IAF and MoD not buying more aircrafts while splurging trillions on ladla dehati schemes.

Pilot unfortunately didn't survive.

The aircraft which were supposed to replace these are still not being produced because of stupidity of MoD/GoI. Neither we ever produced the Tejas mk1 in numbers to keep the supply chain running nor we ever planned a backup engine in case F404 supply chain issues. Don't get me wrong but IAF too is responsible for not ordering Tejas Mk1 in numbers & keeping the supply chain running. And what do I even say about HAL. It's a collective failure that has been costing us precious man & machine.

On the import side. We have been still indecisive. IAF itself has not filed an RFP yet. Tell you their seriousness. If they are serious they should have filed an RFP for MRFA 2-3 years ago.

it all stems from IAF seeing domestic manufacturers as same as foreign one, and seeing itself as a customer.
Rather than viewing both as part of same team and trying for combined effort like navy does.

its easy to bash hal, i am sure we got the news late, but MoD and iaf knew everything, which danish part is blacklisted, who is in the supply chain, who is delaying it. but rajnath should have urged for local production of f404 too, if kaveri was dead, then it is a known fact that an aircraft requires 3 engine in its lifetime, and if you have vision for 220 units of tejas then get local production

Inb4 Ice-Pyaar bots claim this as a PAF kill.

Afaik Jaguar, Mig29, Mirage 2k are all of the 80s vintage.

Chad Pilots have to fly these 40 year old planes and wrestle with their geriatric dramas daily( read last year's citations, messed up shit ), even when things get bad they try to recover to the best of their ability and sometimes it ends sadly like this.

IAF doesn't want Tejas, they want 114 Rafale.

Since Parrikar stopped being DefMin, Govt also didn't care about Tejas.

HAL babooze on their own can't be arsed about anything unless either of the above go with them with a stick.

Thank god, it's a Jaguar. Six Tejas MK1A are ready to be delivered to IAF. So no worries this aircraft will be replaced soon. Both Jags and MiGs needs to be replaced ASAP. If GE is able to deliver only 24 Engines per year then that will be our production rate. In the mean time, HAL has promised to sign the deal for F414 Engines which will be fitted on MK2 by March 2026. I hope they don't fuck this up. Our production line should never be ideal for the next 15 years. They need to be churning out fighter jets every month.

If HAL keeps it's word next year 24 Tejas MK1A jets will be delivered. It is very disappointing with respect to the timelines for upgrading SU-30MKI. The upgrades will run into 2030s. PMO should immediately call stakeholders for a emergency meeting and come up with solution to feel the gaps in IAF inventory. Promise them businees for the next 20 years. In the mean time, we need 54 Rafales has a backup. Better spend the money on Rafales than Javalines.

Even for foreign manufacturers they have a very unrealistic mindset. MRCA saga is an important example of that. They have yet to file an RFP for MRFA. They are having this rude awakening in only last few months. IAF has a history of doing this. If they want import they should get it fast. Just start MRFA and buy Rafale atleast.

its the need of the hour to save our pilots lives, omca should be in mission mode to make jaguar, mig21 and other old soviet aircraft as unmanned like xhina is converting its huge fleet of junk7

What about pilots?
It takes a decade and a million dollar to train a single pilot, even a successful ejection during crash takes a toll on their body.
As long as jaguar mig 21 and m2k are allowed to fly our pilots life will be in danger
