Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

🤔

That's a concern with every digital jet today. Cyber Warfare has been highlighted as 1 of the characteristics of 6gen, means hacking through the SatCom & MADL/IFDL antennas. And with AI & ML tools it becomes far more deadly than human hackers. I'm sure there are already military standards for electronic security but as things get more S/w oriented, an anti-virus & firewall kind of upgrade will be required to counter intrusions.
"Backdoor" is basically a secret administrator/super-user type of access not officially acknowledged.

How do our Aircrafts plan on defending against semi-active radar homing missile without MAWS as they don't need radar lock on thus won't trigger RMR ?

In a bold move to secure the Indian Air Force's (IAF) Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) contract, Embraer has introduced an innovative proposal for its C-390M Millennium aircraft. Known for its primary role as a versatile and efficient transport platform, the C-390M could potentially evolve into a multi-role asset for the IAF.Embraer’s proposal includes adding weaponized capabilities, positioning the C-390M as more than just a transport aircraft. The Brazilian aerospace manufacturer aims to enhance its offering with hardpoints under the aircraft's wings, allowing the C-390M to carry air-to-surface weapon systems. This would enable it to carry out critical combat and maritime security roles in addition to its transport duties, potentially making it an indispensable asset for India’s defense forces. The C-390M is a modern, medium-sized transport aircraft designed for various military roles. It has a powerful engine and advanced systems that give it high fuel efficiency, making it perfect for long-range missions. The aircraft can carry up to 26 tons of cargo, including military vehicles, equipment, and pallets. It is highly maneuverable and can operate from short and rough airstrips, giving it flexibility in many operational environments. Its modern fly-by-wire control system ensures smooth handling and precision during missions. One of the most notable aspects of Embraer’s proposal is the addition of hardpoints under the aircraft’s wings. These hardpoints would allow the C-390M to carry powerful air-to-surface weapons, such as the Rudram-II missile, developed by the IAF. The C-390M could also carry NASM-MR anti-ship missiles, which would make it a suitable platform for both the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. This weaponized version would allow the aircraft to perform strike missions on land and sea, expanding its role beyond that of a transport aircraft.

Plebbitor says this mizzile uses US components and targeting data

The 🐸 sold us this same missile under the name SCALP along with the Rafale.

Can the Burgers cock-block us similarly from using SCALP against the Packies or have the French added some baguette magics to the SCALP that makes it Americunt-mukt?

Storm Shadow missile, the GB model of the french SCALP may use some US components.

It was the case of the french SCALP, until US halt the sell of SCALP to Egypt (with Rafale deal). We then decided to replace the US components so as to have a ITAR free missile. It takes nearly 2 years.

You can expect a similar US metric to apply between a Greece-Toorki war, both GAYTO allies, both US vassals, however with Erdogan in power there is it obvious who's F-16s will continue to receive spares and missiles/bombs between the two
The Erdogan's Turkey fades to US eyes.
Greece was, is and will remain a trustable ally. It's no more the case of Turkey.

Why ? Islamism of Erdogan, S400 purchase, Kurdes repression, incident with a french frigate, etc.....

Turkey is kept in NATO just to avoid to see it with russia. Nothing more.

How close is Turkey in getting its own engine? Turkey is still reliant on western nations for the engine powerplant.

Well Americans won't let them reverse engineer the F110. The Ukrainian engines are inadequate for anything bigger than a mid sized drone. Turks are masters of snaking their way into sensitive defense projects. They might get access to EJ200 tech with Germany's blessing. In 2018 the EJ200 was found inadequate to power the KAAN, which became bloated and massive over the years. The KAAN is pure snake oil, think the Chinese J-31/35. Built in defiance of the US that denied F-35s, but reliant on F110 engines anyway. I imagine yanks will keep them on a short leash. So they will remain dependent on US for fighter engines for the next few decades as well. They burnt their bridges with Russia already by handing over S-400 to NATO. They won't get any engine support elsewhere.

I didn't know that Turkey handed S-400 over to NATO. When did that happen? For the sake of India, I really hope that the version of S-400 sold to Turkey was of a downgraded version, the vanilla type, not the advanced version.
