Indian Army Armored Vehicles

Btw MKU Provides Kavro armoured solutions for 4x4,6x6 etc vehicles which just an armour layer they have two options one in which the layer protects again AP Bullets and also against HMG second one in which it provides STANAG 4569 protection

Yes Current inventory can be converted into armoured solutions that will be low cost then buying Tatra trucks

Yeah, that was the point, atleast converting existing troop trucks in J&K to armored ones coz we don't have much money in pocket but that was if we were a serious nation...., but then experts on twitter be like J&K reeeeeee truck won't be able to move with extra weight reeeee..... so just let our soldiers die in ambushes
Russians use a similiar solution, literally a jugaad

I won’t take Russians as an example in this mfs are getting massacred in Ukraine they have the similar tarp covered trucks for logistics as we do.

I was quoting such trucks used by their interior troops, well atleast they will hopefully learn from their fuckups.

I believe the truck being attacked is a logistics one and not carrying troops. Solo vehicle without any escort is asking for such easy ambushes. Otoh, a big convoy is a target for arty and loitering munitions.

I am of the view that, any compartment in a vehicle which carries personnel should atleast be armored to STANAG 1 level. Some armour still better than no armour.

Beating an Ambush has always been a hard question.

Few things I would like to point out -
  • In business, late payments are pretty common. Its not a "defence industry" specific thing. I know the Indian railways tender & acquision process, they clear their bills of crores of rupees at the end of financial year.
Is it unfair to small businesses ? You bet it is, but that's how it has been unfortunately.

  • Just curious, what kind of super-duper alien spaceship tech is the sight we cannot manufacture/acquire from domestic tenders ?

1. Remove the spoiler from the quote.
2. OEM pitched the sight and nominated us for the accessories. We were there for indigenous content.
3. Indigenous sights are there, but not up to the mark quality-wise. But they are trying to improve at a good pace.
4. IA tends to look at indigenous things negatively. They have their reasons for that, but that's how it is.

Interesting, what's your company name ?

How do you see the future of defence manufacturing in India ? Bars Indian Armed Forces, what is the scope of export to other countries ?

Mfg and export needs a lot of govt support. The export sector is saturated with high-end Western products that are expensive and relatively low-end cheap Chinese products. That leaves the mid-capability mildly priced product section. This is also getting narrower by the day as the Chinese are getting better while the Americans are trying to introduce entry-level items.

Exports, for now, have to a govt-to-govt basis. The services have to accept Indigenous solutions now, no matter how crappy they may be, to get the industry established. Unless the industry here has solid backing, exports aren't going to be easy.

The Chinese have been indigenizing their hardware for a long time, yet they haven't reached perfection. With all the handholding by the USA and West in the past 30-40 years, a manufacturing behemoth with highly govt aided industry, they are just getting there. We have a lot to catch up to be in the big boys league.

Concept of putting rollers on non military vehicles is not bad but the implementation is shitty

Something like this would work much better, independently suspended multi wheel thing. Large, unsupported wheels tend to miss mines very often
