Will India be a 6 trillion economy by 2030? With the way rupee is falling and growth consistently around 6.5-7 percent, I’m not too optimistic. Even now, we haven’t reached 4 trillion.
Apple designs it's own stuff, and it's an electronics device. While the above like much of the "make in India" startups are outsourcing design to chinese firms and then screwdrivering here while claiming "developed and built in India". Entire Indian drone industry for example does this only. Sorry, but this doesn't need to be normalised.I don't know what's the problem with this you guys have?
Do you want people to do nothing and shut all activities. Isn't it similar to Apple designing inhouse but taking help from OEM in China to produce the actual material.
Keep making fun of Make in India program without realizing the meaning of the program.
It will likely not. $5 trillion by 2030 seems more realistic. Will India be a 6 trillion economy by 2030? With the way rupee is falling and growth consistently around 6.5-7 percent, I’m not too optimistic. Even now, we haven’t reached 4 trillion.

In the first few steps, Indian cos can definitely take the help of Chinese manufacturing prowess, but over time it must be indigenized and made completely in India, just like Tejas (but with more Indigenous components)Make in India programs wants companies from around the world to come here and produce their products here.
But you don't even want that and make fun of it. You want them to first complete design their existing products in India and source not 5%, 10%, 20%, 50% but all 100% components here only.
Dude this is not how things work, and this is not how India is going to be a manufacturing center of the world.
You don't want to take even the first step of letting the company's setup their base here and then increase the share of Indian components in stages.
You don't want to spend the decades China spent on letting these companies grow there. But you want to become what China is today in one go.
Rupee falls according to dollar strength, we aren't experiencing hyper inflation. It will be around 6 trl. Will India be a 6 trillion economy by 2030? With the way rupee is falling and growth consistently around 6.5-7 percent, I’m not too optimistic. Even now, we haven’t reached 4 trillion.
They outsource stuff because they have to. You simply don't have the know how or the scale and machinery to produce certain stuff in India and you have to go to China for these things.
You want to develop this capability in India, fine go ahead and spend Billions of $$ and 10-15 years. Meanwhile some chinese company will introduce the product in market and take away the market share while you keep building the capability here.
"licensed production" is a big word for this, it's a mixer grinder motor. the guy's company makes mixer grinder under brand name blaaze.fair point . i think the motor guy is doing licensed production of a chinese product. which is still far better than importing whole thing made in china.
people are mocking that ceo guy because dude says made in india and then posts a video of a chinese woman showing off the motor . i dont think this guy even has 1 unit in his hand .
We haven't been able to increase other sectors exports quite like mobile exports.View attachment 25534

could be a simple case of convenience since he is based out of HK.

ceo says motor was "designed and developed" in China with their "input data"
i think its best to not take these guys seriously.
Takes time, plus Mid-tier electronics have severe chinese monopoly, which is pretty hard to break. In the globalised world you will always have something you will need to import. We haven't been able to increase other sectors exports quite like mobile exports.
For the government they can keep lauding themselves over mobile exports while other sectors languish

India will not be spared from reciprocal tariffs, says Trump; shares PM Modi reaction
Donald Trump reiterated his stance on reciprocal tariffs, telling PM Modi that India will face equal U.S. tariffs on its exports. He emphasized that no country can argue with his approach. Musk confirmed Indias 100% auto import duty.economictimes.indiatimes.com

Trump thinks it would be 'very unfair' if Elon Musk opened up a Tesla factory in India
Donald Trump criticized Teslas potential factory in India as “very unfair” during an interview with Elon Musk, citing high import tariffs. Musk confirmed India's 100% tariff on U.S. auto imports. Tesla has begun hiring in India, raising speculation about its market entry.economictimes.indiatimes.com
Tldr: Modi willing to yield certain concessions on Harley Davidson bikes - nothing on teslashit! Orange man goes on a full meltdown and Elmo backs him up - thinks bullying him into manufacturing in India is 'totally unfair'.
Elmo is playing games with gormint. He wants to export cars at 5-10% duties. All these 'media leaks' (based on unnamed sources) claiming they would launch $ 25k cars do not mean a thing. He is still bargaining - all this is pressure politics.
Reason why I kept saying that Trump 2.0 would be catastrophic for us.
Yep, stoping chinese made components rn, will add a huge production cost for a lot of product based indian firms and startups, it's unfortunate that india doesn't manufacture thess but things are changing.Well, at least he's being honest about it unlike that Micromax guy who used to boast about "aao cheeni kare kum" and then just put 'Made in India stickers' over the 'Made in China' label or just remove/black out that made in china label altogether.
100% manufacturing it in India in the beginning is very difficult. It will just raise the cost of the product. Over a period of time more parts can be indigenized as the ecosystem develops.
