Not a fan at all of this PoS but this interview with Sucheta Dalal really sums up the kind of mess Adani has landed himself & his group in with his amateurish handling of the situation especially once his group started raising funds in the west particularly the US , with the possible future outcomes being discussed.

Highly recommended viewing IMO !

If you are curious, look up the kind of mess his coal import invoices are. That's the very definition of a 'scam' but nobody, not one political party took it up. Let him get screwed - he will have to make an expensive out of court settlement now and will learn a thing or two about accountability. Modi Baba's blessings have gane to his head.

Not a fan of Adani or his practices at all & much less a fan of Leaderji benefiting him or thru him which I believe has the capacity to tarnish both Leaderji & the BJP. Seems both took the Hindenburg case not as a wake up call as they ought to have but something to be hand waved.

Moreover with the kind of acquisition spree Adani has been upto it's impossible for him to exert managerial control over all his assets or inject coherence into it by bringing his group philosophy to bear like the Tatas have , assuming the Adanis have one. Look at the time old businesses like Tatas or the Birlas took to establish a conglomerate. That's one part of the story.

The other part of the story is his group is massively exposed to debt & is massively leveraged . If he goes down that's a lot of assets which would go down with him . That should be our greatest worry especially of the government. Wrote about it on DFI in the wake of the Hindenburg expose.

Tbh this is old news, they have been investigating since 2021. Not really a recent development. If anything, it is shit like this that probably motivated Hindenberg etc to go short.

No clue how effective Yeshwant Deshmukh of C Voter fame's analysis has been in the past but a lot of what he said made sense today even if he goes aboard with the woke terminology .

Ladki Bahin Yojana & its equivalent - Mahila Samman Yojana in Jk was a hit with female voters. It's not a freebie but an essential subsidy to a very needy section of society which will utilise it for the good of the family this the greater good of society.

BJP erred in Jk by not introducing a CM face which happened to be Babulal Marandi here who would've given Hemant Soren a tough fight. Soren's imprisonment may have consolidated his hold over the Adivasis as per him .

As per him the single biggest achievement of both these elections is the heralding of the female voter who've boosted the voter turnout by voting in massive numbers & that targeted subsidies at women as he puts it is going to rewrite the rules of the game going so far as to say that at least in Maharashtra Muslim women may have voted for the BJP alliance in greater numbers than their male counterparts.

Outsiders vs tribals is still a thing which the BJP was unable to crack .

BJP was unable to tap into the anti incumbency of the ruling coalition.

Lack of a CM face against Soren was a big handicap.

Outsiders like Shivraj Singh Chouhan & Hemanta Biswa Sarma running the campaign had no clue on local issues especially the outsiders vs tribals divide focusing on extraneous issues by getting outsiders like YA etc to campaign instead of focusing on local issues.

In other words lack of a properly designed coherent campaign was responsible for the BJP loss. BD illegal immigration wasn't as big an issue as the BJP made it out to be . JMM nullified it by putting the onus of it on the centre as border management is a central issue. In fact instead of consolidating Hindu & tribal voters it consolidated Muslim vote against the BJP.

Local tribal leaders like Munda & Marandi weren't utilised adequately or at all to reach out to tribal population.

Soren managed to nullify anti incumbency as well as corruption charges by his bail from the SC managing to convince the voters this was political vendetta portraying it once again as a tribal vs outsiders issue

Finally tribal concerns rest around Jal Jangal Jameen . Raghubar Das's attempts at changing laws to alter the situation didn't go down well with the tribals last election & the overhang continued this election.

Few other issues too which the BJP either failed to consolidate on .

It works only because that guy has the hunger to expand maxxx his business and has a risk taking appetite

The problem is most of our dhandhos are cowards, they are no Korean Chaebol or Cheeni firm.

The guy is going into shipbuilding now, in ~2016 or so he revealed plans to have end-to-end solar PV supply chain from ingot level, he got in defence manufacturing with that ammo plant, the rest of the bunch don't diversify so fast

Mukesh is happy with his Oil-Telecom-Retail-Media set, Tata had to be baited with PLI and semiconductor subsidies, every other dhandho literally doesn't bother even with subsidies.

Also imagine how retarded will it sound to have a PLI so you can build airport and shipping port in foreign lands, If there's no Adani, Govt has to do it by themselves by using the Chini style PSU route, and you know how our sarkari karamcharis are..

I usually detest freebies and used to make fun of all such 'shree' yojanas introduced by Mamata in WB. But, recently I took a roadtrip through some of the poorest places of WB and saw girls going to schools on cycles provided by Govt through one such programme. Then I began looking into more projects and found that such projects are make or break for many such poverty stricken places.

Us well off people are kind of democrats of USA. Quite removed from realities. People all over the world is getting poorer and to win elections, whatever may be your ideologies, you have do populist schemes like such projects. It is very humbling for me to know that the ₹1000 I was mocking, actually helped many families in WB to stay afloat.

yup, a lot of govt led wealth re-distribution has to happen in the country.

ideally it should have been thru normal commerce route i.e people making their wages in lieu of work. but because of eff ups in the first 50 years, there is a delay in large section of people not equipped to stand on their feet, i.e having to make choices between basic daily essentials and human self-development related expenses like health and education. we also have to keep in mind, even if they are able to stand on their feet on their own, it will take a decade atleast for the neo-middle class to become tax paying citizens.

if this process is delayed, the cost will be even higher later.

so these schemes have to continue thru out our lifetime, provided they are being planned and executed in a targeted manner with out corruption/leakages in between.

You need a new class of entrepreneurs for the mfg sector period. The older generation are either bankrupt / disreputable , or are rent seekers or too jaded or content / have their hands full with what they have.

The new generation entrepreneurs seem more content to get into the service sector like Ola , Zomato , Swiggy etc . Or we've the stupid kinds like the Bhavish Aggarwal who venture into mfg with half baked plans .

GoI , Ministry of Commerce , Industry , Heavy Industry , Niti Aayog , industry bodies like CII , FICCI etc ought to sit down determine priority areas , map out their plans including geography , power & water distribution , land availablity etc then offer targeted subsidies like PLI to entrepreneurs monitor results closely , take remedial action where required , hand holding where required to see them thru their teething phase .

The difference between subsidies in India vs China is while our lot focused on MNREGA or digging ditches as Modi put it very early in his first term , CCP distributed subsidies to industry which is the reason you had a glut in finished goods with surplus mfg capacities. A lot of them will go under for various reasons but at least till that time their vast population is gainfully employed.

If you notice, a lot of these freebies are now able to impact in much higher proportion than earlier. I think the PM Jhan Dhan Yojana and extensive digitalization on likes of UPI we went through in 2014-2024 cut a lot of middle men.

Earlier these parasites used to chug a lot of funds like in MNREGA. Now funds directly go to people's bank accounts.

For the Lower Middle class and Poor to benefit from these Freebies, only when we remove the filth inform of Middlemen, does they gonna be benefited.
