Indian Politics and Democracy

I trust this clown will polarise the polity particularly in the North to such an extent so as to cause a great chasm between the BCs & the SCs.

If reservation ever gets into the private sector, then that would be the right time for any GC male to permanently leave the country. The subalterns can continue the fight(or not) for Hindutva. I used to think it(pvt reservations) won't really happen anytime soon, but going by the current trends and recent election results, it's hard to say.

It's impossible. Every political party depends on business houses for funding elections. Every business house needs talent to run & expand an organisation. That's where the red lines are .

V.P. Singh the original bastard tried this when he implemented the Mandal Commission recommendations. He got told off & as a bonus the BJP withdrew support & Chandrashekhar split the Janata Dal with the Congress backing his bid to be the PM.

Such was the hostility that although V.P. Singh's name was proposed in 1996 it went nowhere before Deve Gowda became the consensus candidate & took the job of the PM .

Chill, it won't happen. Regional parties have attempted private sector reservations before; did not stand the constitutional scrutiny at the courts.

Exactly, this. If it did not happen in the '80s and '90s - it wouldn't happen now (decades of economic growth/mobility has blunted caste based politics - this is also why so many regional parties are struggling). Had Modi opened up the purse strings even a tiny bit in an election year the resultant 1-2% vote share swing (very conservative estimate) would fetch them 290+ yet again and all these narratives (Hindutva losing ground, return of Mandal politics etc) would have bitten the dust.

Had India opened up a decade or two earlier (when a lot of East/South East Asian economies opened up) even Mandal would not have happened.

It's true that they've failed in the past. Doesn't mean they won't keep trying though. A decade ago, a spokesperson or an MP would only mention it briefly or in passing, there used to be a lot of internal dissent in the party regarding these issues. But now, private sector reservation and breaching the 50% cap have officially become a part of the Congress manifesto. Possibly an attempt to slowly bring to the mainstream a ludicrous idea that used to be in the fringe.

Now, whether or not, they're just playing to the gallery or do they actually want to go forward with it if they (in a hypothetical scenario) ever win elections remains to be seen.

Who's The Culprit In BJP's Debacle In Narrative Battle?

A good analysis, please check this once:

Heh, Queen and his party have gone full Islamist in the past few years. The Queen started it - her chamchas are only following her lead.

Until only a few years back, Hakim used to be presented as a staunch secularist by the party. He presides over the Puja committee responsible for one of the most famous Durga Pujas (Chetla Agrani) of Kolkata and possibly, the biggest contributor to their funds.

Footage from their Saraswati Puja - he is involved in that too;

But look at his public statements now....

Nihang seems to get a free pass in all these scenarios. They seems to be unofficial law enforcers of the Sikh community going by how they are endorsed by the rest.
Had this been Murica such things would not have been tolerated. Murican police have the absolute authority to protect themselves and enforce law and order by means of firearm.

Meanwhile here.

Cops really need to know why they have a gun with them. With proper gun discipline half of the disorder that happens here will be suppressed.
