Indian Politics and Democracy

The unofficial policy of the UP and Bihar governments has always been to digest the unemployable youth into the education sector to keep them busy and well-fed so that they don't become nuisance to the society.

BJP lost an election in UP after it tried to punish the widespread cheating in the board exams.

Corruption in India is not a disease infecting only the politicians and the bureaucracy. Corruption has become institutionalized in India. It has got social approval, only those who get negatively effected crib about it. It is a way of life.

In a democracy, the people end up with the government and leaders they deserve.

If the present state of affairs within the BJP continues , the next election could very well be their last elections .

Leaderji doesn't seem to have learnt his lessons from the last elections.

BJP has no intention of winning Delhi state elections.

It has been an open secret for a long time now that BJP throws Delhi assembly elections by design.

Being in power in center and being in power in Delhi at state level can be catastrophic.
There would be no escape for BJP if things go wrong in Delhi at assembly level.

Think of Cong between 2009-2014, had govts in center and Delhi as well.
Everything was magnified since it was happening in Delhi.

It's a lesson BJP learnt.
For long term presence in center, it's important to lose Delhi assembly.

Nailed it. These unions are also the levers that have been carefully crafted, nourished and nurtured by Congress for decades. The left has globally used the same playbook with few variations, use those sections of the society that can be mobilized easily and gets ready sympathy, namely, students, women, minorities, farmers and workers. It is incredible how even mandatory attendance, a norm in every sane country, is a matter of contention in India!

Govt should try to change the culture in schools in a duration of time rather than imposing an order suddenly.

It's slow method only. Next step would be CCTVs in the classroom and inspection of mobile usage during school hours.

I suspect that the government will bring this up if the SC decides to get too cocky.

West Bengal recruitment scam: Supreme Court provides relief to over 23,000 teachers

Bench says scrapping all the recruitments would be unwise and valid appointments should be segregated from the illegal ones

The Supreme Court on May 7 gave relief to the West Bengal government by protecting nearly 24,000 teaching and non-teaching staff members from immediate termination from their jobs in schools across the State.

A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud was hearing a petition filed by the State government against a Calcutta High Court order to terminate 23,123 teaching and non-teaching staffers en bloc.

The High Court had invalidated all the appointments, whether tainted or not, in an order on April 22.

Gobhi , Yogi, Gadkari.. all will lose to bureaucracy..

The Pooja Khedkar issue has provided the government with an opportunity to force a restructuring and clean up in the higher bureaucracy. However, Modi won't bite this bullet because he will face serious opposition from the leaders within his own party.

There exists a deep Politician-Bureaucracy nexus. Bureaucrats transfer a part of their under-the-table earnings to the politicians and the political parties. I don't think that the political parties including the BJP will try to stop this money flow.

Looks like BJP is never letting go of from Top-Down approach. Instead of going local and work according to local issues, they are going all Top-down thing in each state.

In last 10-15 years they could not develop any single leader capable of CM post in Delhi!
When Dr Harsh Vardhan made sense, they brought an outsider Kiran Bedi as CM face. Then let off both when lost the elections.
Even Gambhir would have been a much better choice for CM but he also was let off.
