Indian Railways

5384 is the total production till August 2024.

WAG-9 is being produced at following Locomotive Units across the country:

Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) - Bulk of orders produced in CLW - ~5K
Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW)
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL)
Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW)

We are also not just producing same units from 1996 onwards but constantly improving it with time and variable power:
Heavy Version with 9000 HP
and new 12000 HP variant in development.

Most WAG-9s I see now are either HC or 9000hp HH models. The twin unit variant is in trials. We also learned a lot during the development of the WAG-11 (Twin units converted from WGD-4s) and the shelved WAG-10 (Twins converted from old WDG-3s).

We have to plan few of the overcrowded routes better.

Currently one of the most crowded routes run from Delhi --Lucknow -- towards east. The no of trains can be increased. Put more Vande Bharat during whole day till Lucknow/Prayagraj and then run fresh train from there onwards.

There is no scaling of trains based on Demand. Eg. Lot of folks from Bihar were working in the state of TN in Textiles and construction. For their travel to Patna we have the grand total of 2-3 trains per day. Last time when Chhath pooja came we saw the same cattle class travel.

On the other hand during Pongal due to huge demand for travelling to hometown in TN the number of buses operated by TN government will be increased significantly to 2k-23k along with large number of private operators.

Something needs to be done like introducing extra trains, rationalizing the ticket price of SL and AC. (SL-805 to Patna vs 3A -2205 for Patna). Maybe introduce AC Trains and charge some 150-1700 per head

Read about HUN and HAN track classification, railways need a good analytics department of their own which gives clear info on where they need to push on digitalization in the stream and setup few technology centres across premier institute, will work wonders in long run

I think we need to produce a high capacity AC chair car with 6 rows of seating. This should be priced very sensibly to allow poor people to travel comfortably. No need for latest features, just AC with 6 row seating. Priority should be to fit max people in a coach to reduce losses.

Cannot comprehend how RB hasn't thought of this. China has similar types of trains for poor, migrant labourers.

Exterior design is very nice. Fit and finish is of a much higher quality than ICF.

But I don't like the interior design much. Instead of that glossy black finish on the wall, they could have gone with a lighter colour. That makes the cabin more airy and spacious.

Also, we need a new livery. Why are we using the same VB livery on the sleeper version?
