Indian Small Arms and Weapons

Is there someone who will be bothered to write an academic paper on small arms in India?

SSS Defence started their journey with showcasing MDT Technology's rifles as their own, then the AK based P-72 and finally the M4 as M-72. ASTR guy came into limelight because of that SCAR ripoff and then came the SIG Sauer P320 in the form of Atal. And despite literally copying these are the "respected" people in my view as everyone else is just doing straight ScrewdriverGiri; from Jindal to PLR to Reliance to what not. How could you even think that someone would come up with a concept of any groundbreaking weapon here in India?

In past half a decade or so I've come across just one guy, JUST ONE who's doing something that really deserves to be called research or innovation.

there are no free lunches, one has to get hold of "a bunch of academics" who can create an "intellectual" aura in written format around the product you intend to sell in the future. right infront of our eyes folks are running an intellectual scam worth billions of $ around a topic as boring as climate science targeting lowest common denominator. getting a white paper or concept paper written on "why creating a family of small arms should be a focus" surely needs a bit more effort.

it's not about a particular weapon, it's about planting an idea in the heads of future decision makers who are probably in ranks of major or lt. general at the moment.

yes, really smart people are rare, that's the way the world works. the triangle apples, as you go to the top there are fewer people.

The bolt thrust is 60,000N and we can have either 416 or 4340 with both being HTSR condition. Assuming we choose 4340, the yield strength should be 600MPa. But we need a safety margin of atleast 50%, so 60kN is now 90kN. To counter this force you'd need a shear area of 90kN/600 = 150mm². How many lugs should be there on the bolt? 7!? Okay, so per lug you'd need 22mm². But then...

Why bother with all this sh*t when you can make another app that delivers grocery in 9.75 minutes!? Or another AI based start-up that can be made obsolete by just one new feature of OpenAI.

you too can take a shot at writing such a white paper, there is no hard and fast rule that only academic gyanis are allowed to write it. you will get a chance to learn how to communicate data points in a manner that the target audience feels informed.

Who is this one person/entity if I may ask?
Obviously me
Just kidding...his name is C.J. Varghese. Studies in hecking Cranfield and already has 6 patents ranging everything from a freaking auto-loader for 84mm CGRL to Active Protection System for tanks.

Ah yes, I follow him on X.

Why are you even shocked shreya lifesciences for example was literally named in that news article about indian firms trading with russia. They were dhandomaxxing by buying gpus from malaysia and sending it to roos.
Sanctions will effect this rerouting business because the OEMs will not deal with a sanctioned entity.
But if for example lokesh machines is the OEM by itself it can double down on sales to russia... cause russia literally has thousands of crores of rupees sitting in Indian banks.
