Dear comrades,
This message is for all of us especially those operating in Valley. In the last 21 days we have lost over a dozen bravehearts including two officers while neutralizing only three terrorists..only three..even the report of four in Doda, only one body has been found..
Recently Terrorists are springing up at random locations, running off to jungles & drawing us into relatively uncharted territories..
From all that I've seen in my little time here is that the eagerness to kill them is resulting in us buying casualties.
I'd just like to tell all my brothers that if you're operating here, don't succumb to any fucking pressure till you have a good situational picture..a know of the land, better int picture and not be coerced into jungle bashing just coz the hierarchy cannot keep their heads together..build your int networks, go amongst the populace and work with them..arm yourself with every asset that you can... drones, drones with bombs, live tracking anything.. brainstorm amongst each other..talk to each other and broaden each other's knowledge and experience..create your own systems.. identify the hunters under your command..use their knowledge to understand the mind of a hunter..build your assets and empower them..rewrite the rules if you have to..but don't fucking stick to the status quo..evolve your systems..
It's time we take a call. Our leadership has been silent on why we're losing so many men and will always remain so..
In any other army losing so many men will tantamount to folks being sacked en masse..
But we get off by stating excuses like that it's a dynamic situation, Kashmir is a complex place, the terrain is so challenging, we have no control over it and a million such like excuses..
Over three decades of operating in the Valley and we still don't have deep int networks..Int network that work symbiotically with us.. institutional knowledge that may hold the test of time..
I know it's not the time when we've just lost another braveheart..I know that things aren't as bad as I think they are..
I know that we signed up for this..
But we didn't sign up for being short handed in the face of an enemy that has all the options in the world..we can spend Rs 10 lacs per formation for organizing Yoga Day but Cannot get an order in for Night Vison Devices..
We can buy 35,000 Google Pixel 6a mobile phones under Emergency Procurement for implementing a shitty SAMBHAV and cannot equip our forces with night sights..they're just an example of where our priorities lie..
They say it's not the actions of evil men that matter, but the inaction of good men..
We know we are in a flawed system and instead of just accepting everything as fait accompli it's time we question these actions..
Ask our hierarchy why we're losing men in the numbers we are losing them?
What changes do we need to get into our modus operandi to mitigate these casualties?
Why are our int networks broken? What capabilities are needed in these emerging times??
I sat amongst a group of 18 officers today, all employed in CI and they heard the news of Deepak's with just a shrug..Everyone resigned to the fact that yeah this is bound to happen..
And it's worrying..when an army starts taking the death of its men with a "Matter of Fact" attitude, there's something amiss...
I'm sorry today is not the time & it's not my place to say anything since I was involved in the ops, but another of my brother has lost his life chasing a lowlife who was destined to die either way..
Be united in this time of grief and never forget..
Never forget every brother we've lost..not to make you emotionally weak but to remind you why we're doing what we're doing..
Let's get them boys..
Best of luck to all of us..
And remember our fraternity's unsaid motto,
"One for All,
All for One
