Indian Special Forces

Man I don't wanna joke here but the irony is they themselves stop ops during darkness lol
the old school 9 who came up with this was very different than how they came out to be later boss.
Read Major Sapru's first book and in the starting only you will see them mentioning why night and bad weather is a commando's best friend and that almost all of their operations happen at night.

How much old school? 2016 uri raid happened in daylight.. any more before that and they didn't even had NVGs (more than single digit number) in 90s and 2000s. Heck most of them were using optic less vz.58s pretty much till late 2000s bro. So what night ops? What you might be referring to is that they used to leave from their forward base in the darkness so that they can avoid terrorists when moving (instead of engaging). There is a difference between moving at night and fighting at night. I remember the first few pages of sapru sir's "savage hills" where he says they climbed the mountains all night inbetween heavy rain/ thunderstorm and reached the location of terrorists where they had set up a fire camp only when the first morning rays fell. After that they engaged them.

In the 90s and 2000s India had Israeli Monotube devices.

Yes ITL N/SEAS monocular. Later in 2006-07 we got AN/PVS-14 with the FMS package that included M4 sopmods. Long before 90s we had AN/PVS-4 Starlights handed to units in lanka which in later stages was getting replaced by AN/PVS-7. In between we bought russian weapon mounted ones too. Some NE unit used to loan aviator spec dual tube NVGs to conduct night raids/surveillance ops

Yar we didn't raid uri ffs it's our own garrison. Mkc bollywood ki for naming the movie as Uri the surgical strike. nvm fighting at night isn't allowed cause we don't have a night fighting ecosystem that gives us a PID. You can be using GPNVGs and all but you can't fire on a guy if you don't visually identify a weapon in his hand. Night Fighting requires a proper ecosystem that is non-existent here.

My point is, despite not having good NVGs, atleast they infiltrated or raided at night time mostly. Infiltration ya patrolling toh hamesha night time mei hoti thi. What changed ? No one knows.
These days our Para guys patrol in broad daylight !?

Read this....Op Mandhol in 1971 happened at the hours of night, but just to cut short

The fact that the NVGs we have can be traced back to 90snera shows how serious we are.

OT but sapru sir got a flair for writing, "To those who know the jungle, it was the last cry of the wild before silence descended the night" chills man

Like @Airborne22 said yesterday.. why use such complex weapon systems? Is an HK416 harder to get than a FN? If FN can lobby itself, then why can't HK? If scars can be ordered through 3rd party route via USA, then why not HK416s? I'm not saying HK416s are the best AR today, but in the times when these p90s and fs2000s were bought for SPG, SG, SFF, and other unknown units, i see no scenario where an HK416 would not had been better for their mandate in every possible way.
