Ok so saw someone defending this by saying the gear is like this because of the terrain it's very "terrain specific" now I am a noob and I know jackshit about stuff so I won't comment but to the respected members

Whatever the fuck jugaad PC stitched together this is with a very light ergonomic laser cut molly PC preferably square cut and what terrain and mission profile dosent allow the soldiers to replace their pathkas with a decent ACH forget about HCBH especially the ones from MKU newer models which have been tested against AK rounds and have proved effective the one point people kept bringing up for why pathka is better that point has been dead for more than 2 years let's leave the rest of the gear comms and other shit let's just talk about these 2 things IK I am really a noob in this field and I know next to nothing so what could be the reason?
They are multiple reasons why this is happening -
This type of conflict they are inducted in isn't any high speed combat situation, it's mostly 6-7 terrorists they are hunting or killing, the "jaane de yar mein kyun apni salary kharchu foreign waale plate carrier pe" attitude kicks in.
All Cdo Groups (yes they are still staffed and structured like the good ole para commandos not SF that comprised of cdo groups instead of teams) are deployed around the clock in every region of J&K. No room for much improvement in standards.
Inducting new kit requires specific training to get familiar with it and to get the best out of it. Yeh toh woh karney se rahe
The clothes are the same that they were wearing in their barracks, the must've been told to get ready within 5 minutes.
The only modern thing 31 RR has is Drones, UGVs and Tavor Tar 21 with flattop (supressor, mor, Gx3 and mepro mini hunter included)
Lastly "Beggars have no choice". There are infsntry units with better kits than 31RR which has a rich CI-CT experience ever since it was raised by Maj Sapru and Col Mann in J&K but this unit doesn't seem to have even the kit inducted in 2010s ! (Non-glossy bolted ACH, PVS 14/Tata monocular, LBV etc.)
Same goes for the mavericks units deployed in J&K for CI-CT, the only better thing they have is clothing and helmets.
Look at 9 para, Marcos and other units that have kept on improving and experimenting.
These people if put on LOC will ask for Gucci gear.
Since no one from their family is fighting they think its a waste.
Plus some people carry looser attitude like this guy.
I always ask for better gear coz of only one reason that we should save every life we can.
SPOT ON ! LoC tenures ne badi badi units ko sudhara hai cause that's where they saw proper combat.
