Indian Special Forces

guys i remember seeing a photo of a para sf m4 with a thermal clip on. I am not able to find it. If anyone has it, please share it.

Thank you.

Well that's the neat part, you don't; hardly 10km is what you get.

You're clubbing together multiple issues Buddy

• Are Paras taking bit too much casualties in COIN operations?
Yes and it has multiple issues to it ranging from different training to operating in civilian areas to poor operational planning.

• Are Paras "not that special" anymore?
Yeah, kind of. I always say our Paras are what Ghatak should have been, Ghataks are what RRs should have been, RRs are what infantry should have been and there's none who should have been like Delta Force. MARCOS gives a pretty textbook example of what Special Forces should have been.

• Are we not taking revenge?
We don't know. If it would have an escalation of LSCO with Pakistani soldiers firing artillery and we also replying then it would have been over in days. Almost all the escalations are covert and against the Laws of War so we also retaliate in a just manner. And these are not "civil" enough to be told to the nation in a press conference so no-one knows.

Compare 4x gliders with 8x troops to an utility helicopter carrying a detachment of 8x troops.

I'm starting the comparison for you, you can continue for other parameters like range, speed, altitude if you wish
• A helicopter can have substantial level of armament with it ranging from MGs to missiles.
• Typical sound signature of a 2/4 stroke glider should be around 100dB and for a modern turboshaft helicopter around 115dB.
Retaliations cannot be ad-hoc in nature. They need to serve a purpose of dissuasive deterrence. That is not the case now. For the Special forces, this is a salient point.

Are there any images of Indian SF using STI/E rigs? Unlike the widely used Single rope STIE images.

Toh Major Jacob ne unko nhi bola …saley Bisleri k chodo hume batane aaye ho..pehli fursat me niklo😄😄

(Just kidding)
Sorry To say but Jacob Comes off as someone who suffers from severe PTSD. Complete respect for his service but he shouldn’t be taken seriously on certain issues.he must have seen some crazy shit or I guess being alive after 2 failed parachute openings has made him this way.

Arre Bhai mere, go through it once more...it's regarding the "level of speciality" a force has, not the kind of operation we use them for.

The level of budget, training, kits and weapons RR get because they're considered a Tier above regular infantry is what the infantry deserves. Similarly the level of money spent on Para because they're the so called Tiers-I operators is hardly justified for Ghatak; the shock troopers.
You are wrong again, most LoC units are better equipped and outperforming RR units in gun battles.

I wont be shocked if he is bcoz these guys work under a lot of stress.

Our suicide numbers in Kashmir are an example of that.

I would say even Col Shivendra whom i admire comes across as PTSD case bcoz of his body language being negative…the amount of times he touches his face and talks is mind boggling..Solmon Bhoi also does that a lot.

It is a very difficult life indeed.

What I am surprised is that itne Tier 1 Units aane ke baad bhi NSG isn't taking any lessons. Only take in 30% of the Knowledge. Pata ni kyun
Remember that arty drill of jumping so much amd firing rounds..i feel that was bcoz Gora sahab might have felt Indian sipahi too lazy and to make him chust durust.

Thatswhy in every arm focus is only of physicals and not mentals.

I am also shocked how can you not learn when a unit like GSG is coming regularly.

GSG9, SAS were here for advisory and Norway's FSK even conducted ops along SF to locate their hostage

SAS ran up and down the mountain and got lost. GSG9+ Norwegians (i think) didnt step outside Delhi.
They were so condesending to our troops so now they are PNG from our Paras - no more cross training/interactions etc.

The SAS were also advisors during the first Golden Temple Seige
