The reason you've so many KJ500 & KJ2000 is because of something called the Himalayas. Sitting on top of a plateau called Tibet as you are , you can't get a good view of the plains below for a feature called the Himalayas with average heights of upwards of 6000 mtrs come in between .

It's in between these valleys that the IAF will hide its Fighter Aircrafts ( FA) . However you can't see all that flying at a distance from the Himalayas for which you've to come as close to the Himalayas as possible. That presents a very juicy target to our FAs especially the Rafales armed with the Meteors for precisely such an eventuality . In the near future of around 3-4 years we hope to have the Astra 3 & the Rudram III for such roles in huge numbers.

Hence the strength in numbers on your side to make up for attrition plus the fact that you've to take Taiwan.

PLAAF J-20s are a genuine threat. Even if we assume it is high 4.5+ gen that's still better than EF2000 / Rafales.

We need contingency plans to tackle it. Only way forward is domestic manufacturing of LCA Mk-2 / ORCA / AMCA in large numbers so that we can quickly replace them during war.

We have already achieved sufficient self-sufficiency in SAMs & radars, which is a good thing. XRSAM development should be fast-tracked and complemented with S-400. I don't think S-400 will be at all effective against the Chinese (coz they also have the same system).
