LCA TEJAS MK-I & MK-IA: News and Discussion

I cannot vouch for the reliability (no source given) but another Indian site says

defence news aka in copies each article from idrw so do not be surprised. it gives the same news each day that idrw publishes rejuvenating information

Well what you are saying is most commonly often (mis)used modus operandi in world Media. Keep telling same lie through multiple outlets so that truth deniers can use different media sources to reinforce their lie.

Your info is quite accurate for the original MiG29A.
Wholly wrong about the M, UPG and K. Unstable, decent range, entirely quadruplex FBW.
Indeed but....
But as F15EX, now fitted with FBW : a plane non studied from the beginning to be unstable, will never have the same agility han the same natively fitted with.
Except if you change deeply the bird, but it was not really the case. Only Mig 35, a Mig 29 son, with greater fuel capacity, can now be really unstable.
For all the other (mig 29 M, UPG, K and F15 EX) FBW are mainly there to reduce weight, secure the flight enveloppe & giving a solution in case of a govern malfunction or war damage.

I am 'The Guy"....

Mig 29 is a stable design. It has no FBW. The latest version may have FBW (Mig 35 ?) but not the first version.
Mig 29 range is low. It was studied as a replacement of Mig 21 in the point defense role.

FBW is a control system, it has absolutely nothing to do with design. Mig-29 has a unstable design from day 1.

Point defence is a vague term. What point?? Which point need to defend?? All jets have to at some point to counter adversaries. It means nothing in context of Mig-29.

But Air superiority fighter is a more acceptable term when you have to deal with air threats.

When Mig-29 appeared on Eastern Germany front whole NATO went in shock after noticing it characteristics. SU-27 got its fame much later only around 2000s.

At those time we only have noticed its short take off capacity, speed and climb rate. That's all.

It's only after the iron wall collapse, and the ex east german Mig29 move in the german airforce that we had access to its weapon system :
-disappointing radar in kind of range and counter electronic measures.
-very potent high off boresight short range missile with helmet.
-smoky engines. Low reliability.

Having one bird earmarked specially for Airshows and demos and painted accordingly with a more eye catching paint scheme will be such a good PR option for this bird.
Something on the line of the SoloTurk demo!

Against which Aircraft? Jumbo Tornado or Mirage?

You are saying like Europe was operating 6th generation aircraft against mig-29.

Please don’t become another French Akim
