LCA TEJAS MK-I & MK-IA: News and Discussion

Well he's not inaccurate then!..

GE can delay engine deliveries for years at a stretch and IAF loudmouths will be fast asleep. If couple of sub-systems are pending testing in an entire aircraft made inside India, IAF chief suddenly finds his voice

Russia is able to fight a war lasting 2+ years as their armed force will fight with sticks if they have to as long as it is made inside Russia.

Let's just pray China does not get in mood to screw us anytime soon as our gold-plated western weaponry buyers will simply take flight to their kids homes in NY, Paris or London and leave foot soldiers to bear the brunt and consequences of their grift

Does he read newspapers that engine supply was stopped by USA not HAL.
I recall that when GE F404 delivery was late/going to be late, GE explained that it was having problems due to a supplier going into administration.

I also recall suggesting that it was possible that for political reasons the US administration, behind the scenes, was discouraging GE from fixing the supply problem as fast as it possibly could. I did not know if that was the case or not and never stated it was the case. I merely offered that as a possible explanation for the length of the delay. It seems to have been picked up by some on this forum and presented as an absolute truth in the best tradition of conspiracy theory.

If newspapers share my view, fine. What evidence do they present to substantiate the accusation that the US stopped supply of GE F404 to India? IIRC the supplier of whatever component(s) were needed in F404 was a foreign company (South Korean, IIRC). Had it been supplying HAL with parts to be used in Tejas Mk1A and stopped because it had gone bust, in what way would South Korea have stopped those parts being supplied to HAL? By having insolvency laws?

Companies go bust. Supply chains have problems.

First, IAF cheif does not directly deals with GE, he will deal with HAL as he's getting his jets from Hal.
GE manufactures a "component" for the jet, GE is the supplier of HAL, it's HAL job to talk with them.

And as he didn't complain about engine to Hal means he understands that engines are not their fault, his complains are about things on which Hal has complete control over.

He's not talking about engines..

He's saying stuff like these aren't operationalView attachment 24911

Didn't just last year a new / indigenous flight control computer was selected. Who opted for such massive modification just few months before scheduled delivery.

I imagine that the contract signed in 2021 for 73 fighters specified the exact requirement for those fighters. Why change it, if it was changed?

also raising this issue in Largest Air Show India ever conducted…

Openly infront of media scolding your most advanced Aero Space Entity when IAF is itself to blame equally,

IAF has asked to froze and then few iterations after asked to modify same thing this happened again and again.

The way IAF chief is trying to wash dirty laundry in an Air Show is disheartening…

The weapon certifications could have been sped up if IAF was also dedicated equally its not like HAL has dedicated expertise for same..

Frankly I see what the IAF chief indulged in as part of the narrative building he , the IAF , MoD & GoI are indulging in to get in the MRFA requirements thru the backdoor.

The narrative is simple enough . Not enough FAs , GE not co operating , air crashes of existing FAs given obsolescence & overwork given paucity of squadrons , to top it all HAL not delivering , hence no choice except imports thru G2G deals like we did with 36 nos Rafales last time .

The report from the committee set up to examine the condition of the IAF & make recommendations should be due anytime now . Let's see if the report & it's recommendations are made public which I think it will after redaction of classified information.

According to the Air Chief Marshal, the Tejas Mk1A is not fully ready yet. The initial batch of aircraft being delivered features improvements over the Tejas Mk1 but does not yet include all the enhancements initially planned for the Mk1A.

It's just usual IAF Rona dhona.. He refused to address DRDO's side last time when they were discussing. He just keeps yapping "I don't trust you guys". And somebody should ask him what has you done to help DRDO/GTRE in getting funds for building testbed, Tejas development? Other than sitting on higher podium. They behave like that brother in the house who criticize everyone in the family but does nothing to fix the problem.
