It there anything a common man can do to protect himself ? move abroad ?

Laws are pro women in the West as well. Just as an example, most countries in the west allow for filing no-contest and no fault divorce(i.e unilateral divorce by either party without any cause), India doesn't allow that. Their alimony and custody laws are pro women as well.

Just choose your partner very carefully for compatibility, women with these types of behaviour can be screened.

Laws in any 'functioning democracy' are generally pro women. Not sure where all these claims of 'gender neutral' legal framework of gora nations are coming from.

Also, I have no intention to engage in victim blaming but the guy could have fought a much better legal battle for all the resources he had at his disposal - whoever advised him messed up and he paid the price with his life. Receiving so many hearings over the course of 2 years is NOT normal. Not at a lower court, anyway. His lawyers watched on even as their client got harassed left, right and centre.

Move abroad to a western country? Yes, if better quality of life is the aim.
I live in USA, laws are not that great either
Very common here for women to falsely accuse men of rape and ruin their lives and if caught merely receive a slap on the wrist.

Also equally common on women to cheat on the husband, have another man's kid and make the husband pay alimony for it

And justice can be bought, wealthy folks get much better lawyers and can also engage in "judge shopping" here

This, I feel like "getting justice" is just an illusion the western media sells to the rest of the world. Money really does by justice, if you can afford a good lawyer you can pretty much get away with most things. It's no different than in India except here there the illusion of justice is crafted in a much more sophisticated way. The chooran sold here is of equally high potency as compared to in India, just that the chooran is applied to a different aspect of society.

You guys should deal with Indian judiciary and then you'd know what you're dealing with

One of the rare occasions when courts side with men.

Can a spouse, after agreeing to consent to divorce and filing joint undertaking in court after signing on financial settlement of separation, renege from the agreement before the final order for divorce is passed by court?

A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan of the SC issued notice to a woman on a plea by her husband against the HC order.

They won't fire her.
They will wait for few months and everyone will forget this man
They will obviously investigate the matter first. The girl will narrate some sob stories and ill resume work immediately. In court the case won't run for long, she will be filed for abetment which won't hold and she will be out on bail same day.

All that is fine but divorce cases can turn really really really ugly in burgerland. Are any of you aware what Sridhar Vembu is going through? He is a billionaire who left the country years back but still battling it out amidst a negative PR blitz (planted by the legal team of his ex-wife). One reason why so many folks shy away from getting married or having kids altogether out there.

Nah, she will spend some days/months in prison and keep visiting the courts for the rest of her life. Chances are that her brother and uncles will suffer a similar fate. Abetment to suicide is a serious charge - she won't get away easily; the fate her lawyers so desperately sought for her ex-husband would befall her. Won't be surprised if she gets fired by Accenture too - this case has blown up a bit too much, they gain nothing by keeping a mid tier non senior consultant and attracting negative PR.

BNS S108 - abetment of suicide is non-bailable.
but since this is now a famous case, we will have to wait and see what milords will do.

and then there are famous commie lawyers, who make a lot of effort to make sure criminal elements roam free in the name of human rights, almost as if their goal is to keep the civil society in a permanent state of anxiety and insecurity for their political long march agenda. we will have to wait and see how this group will insert themselves into this.

so let's see what happens.

not many might have noticed, there has been progress on misuse of 498a these past few years. there have been some good judgements in recent years.

not all doom and gloom it seems. some semblance of "justice" atleast from SC. lower tiers will still be "for hire" anyway..

While hearing a case (Dara Lakshmi Narayana and Others vs State of Telangana and Another), the Supreme Court said Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which penalises cruelty by husbands and their relatives against married women, was being misused.

While hearing the matter, the top court bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and N Kotiswar Singh noted that sometimes the provision, originally intended to protect women from domestic violence and harassment, was being exploited by some women to force her husband and his family to comply with their “unreasonable demands".

The Supreme Court made the observations while dismissing the cruelty and dowry cases filed by the wife against her husband and in-laws. The plea was filed by the husband and his family members challenging the Telangana High Court’s refusal to dismiss the case. The wife had filed the cases after her husband sought a divorce. After reviewing the arguments, the Supreme Court concluded that the wife had filed the cases to settle personal grievances and was misusing legal provisions that were intended to protect her.

Had discussion with one of my Lawyer cousins and one more lawyer acquaintance - the case will be weak against the wife. The way she said the things in court is not exactly abetment - can be argued easily as debate in court.
But since the case has managed some ground online and people are talking a lot, something serious might happen against the wife and her family.

See how wife's family is reacting: they all know they are culprit:

Judges are making these observations since 10-15 years now but at the same time they are also doing this:

I believe people in this unjust world are nearing a tipping point, where vigilante groups or individuals might take justice into their own hands.

take the United Healthcare case, for example , it seems like someone reached their limit and decided to act. It's also highly probable that judges could end up being targeted as well.

I don't think the wife would get sentenced or anything.

Just that abetment of suicide is a serious charge and a non bailable offense. These charges will stick with her for the rest of her life. She will be moving from one court to another, spending quite a bit on her lawyers and will find it incredibly incredibly difficult to get a new job for the rest of her life. Even the alimony/settlement that she so dearly sought gets complicated now that her ex-husband has named her directly in his suicide note.

Let us say you would not want to get involved in charges like these.

Also, India Today claims that the wife was routinely changing her statements - withdrawing old charges and filing new charges afresh. If true, this fits the textbook definition of 'mental harassment'.

I dont know why men in India who earn decent get married especially to ugly women.

The risk to reward ratio is too damn high with corrupt judiciary and police.
