ADA Tejas Mark-II/Medium Weight Fighter

Tejas mk2's funding was choked by GoI due to engine uncertainty. Before this there was also a long delay in ccs clearance for the jet, really no fault of Hal in all these.
The issue really is with ADA and their directors who have been pushing out the roll out dates every year. Any physical product requires the associated design bureau to complete the development of tech and all the sub-assemblies/modules to freeze the design before an integrator like HAL can reach out to it's suppliers to procure components for prototypes.

Nevertheless, we should still plan for a backup in regards to the engine with Russians or French in case things go haywire with the US

Quoting Air Marshal Rajkumar (R) on LCA MK2:

1. All parts are being built on jigs using CATIA 5 software
2. The airframe has a considerable proportion of composite parts
3. Finish is an order of magnitude better than in the LCA Mk1 days
4. They hope to start equipping the airframe with LRUs by Sep/Oct
5. Commence ground runs around Apr 26 leading to first flight later in 2026
6. The flight control computer is ready and undergoing qualification
7. Almost all hydraulic actuators have been indigenised and some have finished flight tests

Hehe... with every "reliable" update... the timeline keeps slipping by 6 months... & then there are people who want you to believe that AMCA would be inducted by 2025.
My guess is we won't see relible update of mk2 until GE414 deal is signed.. its supposed to be signed in july this year, if US delays then we know US is our 'enemy' and not just 'frenemy'

Nothing against micromanagement when these changes cost in crores, but approval should be speedy.

Yes , I really couldn't get this part . What's the GoI doing sanctioning funds for an assembly jig irrespective its cost ?!

One would have thought this is part of the development costs of the Mk-2 sanctioned to ADA & supervised by the MoD.

Is it beyond the scope of the budgeted amount which is to say is it an additional cost or is the development of the Mk-2 being monitored at the highest level ?
