Indian Navy Developments & Discussions

There was this post on 4chan from a US navy office who narrated that Indian Navy does it work in a juggad manner. Exposed wires was one of the major nitpick. Could it be this was a electrical mishap that led to fire.
Everything is done in a juggad way in India. From roads and railways to defence (gorment or private doesn't matter). The main issue is that govt has no real intention of improving these things.

Maybe fire weakened the steel structure, joints, rivets etc. This can pop the rivets in the hull and cause flooding or the ship may collapse under its own weight.

But GRSE was developing a 30mm Naval Surface Gun, right?
DPSU development usually means the indigenisation of already existing equipment. Like BHEL with SRGM and GSL with IRL. GRSE's 30mm NSG is just a CRN-91 manufactured by GRSE's new division.

There are exceptions where DPSUs actually *develop* things, but most of them only happened in the past 3-4 years.

@Adm_Kenobi is this plan still on track? Or are we going for some desi alternative? Also, will desi LRMFR derivative go onboard NGC?
P17/Talwar upgrade plans (other than UVLM) are on hold right now.
No idea about the radar on NGC, even the dimensions we got are 'approximate', we shall get more accurate numbers as the design moves forward.

ins betwa had met an accident on that very day due to negligence , 3 officers were court martialed. ins Brahmaputra met an accident due to onboard fire , no design flaws AFAIK.

What I was talking about that after the incident they both kind of rolled over in a similar way.

The cause of the vessel tipping over towards port, or the left, was not immediately know. Firefighting units had pumped huge quantities of water to douse the flames, the officials cited above said.
The 3,850-tonne multi-role frigate, the lead warship of the Brahmaputra class, suffered extensive damage and is likely to be out of action for several months, said one of the officials, who asked not to be named. It was at the dockyard for a refit.
The navy has ordered an investigation into the incident. The “listing” could have been caused by the huge amounts of water pumped in to douse the fire or some water ingress into the vessel, though the former seems more likely in the absence of a collision, the officials said. “It is a serious incident. The extent of the damage will be known only after a thorough assessment after the frigate is brought to its upright position,” said a second official.
Navy chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi briefed defence minister Rajnath Singh on the development, which may have damaged some key equipment and systems, HT has learnt.

you see alpha defense said Brahmaputra's hull got ruptured water sipped in tilting ship port-side,idk how true he was. in case of betwa procedures weren't followed and as a result the ship slipped off its support blocks .stuff like this aren't uncommon often happen with ships.

Apparently INS Betwa(same Brahmaputra class) also flipped over at the graving dock in 2015.

Might be something to look into, although I doubt anything substantial will be correlated as that was a dry dock.
Oh absolutely. Naval Dockyard Mumbai is the most incompetent useless liability of an organization.
The sheer shitfuckery that goes on there is unbelievable. And why the IN is fucking fed up. Theyre moving all platforms of WNC to Karwar, because that dockyard is navy run and uncorrupt.
Shit is so bad that IN literally towed away the incomplete Delhi MLU to Vishakapatnam ND to complete her.

Indian military cant seem to go 1 week without embarrassing itself somehow. Pathetic. Not the first time such an accident happened in drydock. There was a big string of such accidents happening in the previous decade
Arreh hatao yaar.
If you read any of the records of even stalwarts like USN and MN, you'll be in the shock of your life.
Besides, Naval Dockyard is a fucking mess of an organization that the Navy itself hates.

One kilo ,ins betwa and now Brahmaputra class probably 1-1.5 billions $ in loss due to them

Although I want to give them a benefit of doubt, it has happened way to many times and it keep happening again and again.
