Indian Small Arms and Weapons

Isn't the american branch independent?
Functions independently yes but still owned by L&O. They are registered in Switzerland to keep them away from the German oversight.

Why the heck this thing was not discussed!? This is groundbreaking.

Some 5-6 months ago we got the first polymer framed semi auto pistol from a PSU. Made by Gun & Shell Factory, it's been named Yasashwi - Sanskrit for fame that last for eternity

Chambered in .32ACP it has a high capacity magazine of 10 rounds. It look absolutely gorgeous and can easily compete with international pistols like Glock and SIG Sauer

And by the way yes; that Picatinny rail is totally fake and of absolutely no use, in case someone might be wondering

Babus FTW !

Do we have any plans to export our small arms, do gov. Babus allow export?
Both private small arms manufacturers and gov. Ones can export(trichy assault rifle, jvpc etc.)

  • The legitimate export of the parts and components of small arms and body armour for civil use are now being permitted after prior consultation with MEA.

But we've nothing worth exporting; they're either too crude, or too much of an copy or we've simply nothing to offer in that category at that price point.

There will be an old post of mine on why it's important to do R&D in weapons if you want to export them. Go through that once, it'll help

We have atleast some leverage when we talk about things like artillery or missiles; ATAGS is still unmatched in its category or Akash is still an extremely potent missile system for any (non-China friendly) country with shallow pockets. But sadly in small arms and light weapons we get absolutely massacred by the competition. We have still decades to catch up in terms of R&D.

Side note : Someone please don't come up the with example of INSAS sales to Nepal or Oman...we all know that's nothing compared to what actual arms export looks like.

If exports are allowed private players will get motivation to do more r&d even if domestic orders are not likely because they get to compete in international market with other players in future.

There's probably nothing in our Small arms arsenal that anyone would be interested in apart from old gen SMLEs or the JVPC thanks to Call of Duty.
