himalayan cold is different from polar cold. what ever gear you wear it penetrates into your gear at poles, it feels like thousands of needles are on your skin, it is a very corrisive cold. The quality of gear is tested in those region.

As someone who has experienced both, I can say that you cant be more wrong. Its the opposite!

I am a native of himalayan state my hometown is at 2900+ meters and I don't find himalayan winters penetrating into my cloths. You are wrong, or you have not experienced it enough.

When the fuck post independence has IA been an expeditionary force that they will go fight in the arctic? who the fuck are they going to fight there? If you say the Chinese.. I regularly ride to Pin Valley and Zanskar which is around 12000ft, and am pretty well acquainted with the cold. On a motorcycle, wind chill is also a big factor. But the right gear can offset everything.



Winter temperatures in Siachen are similar to Arctic.
And on the contrary, a simple Google search would tell you that relative humidity in Siachen is actually lesser than the Arctic, in effect making Siachen actually *drier* than the Arctic.

SF and Infantry elements are deployed in Siachen the year round.

2900 m is not high , but when you live constantly for 12 months you know what it is about. And secondly, 19000 feet is also not so much if you travel to nanda devi base camp or Kanjajunga base came. I have relatives there living.

It is not only about temperature. The himalayan winters are moisturizing the polar winters are corrosive due to high amount of salt.

Soviets and Scandinavian countries ahve done immense about of research on this subject.

Yes I have that's why I am saying. Went to northern region of scandinavian country to witness polar light and then further into the sea in january. I would love to be in Drass but not there. Even after wearing 3 lyers inside the cold tries to penetrate. Imagine operating in that climate.

The salt in air makes it more troublesome, you will soon see the change in your body within weeks. Your BP will go high if you don't really care.

Please come out misunderstanding that the winters in Siachen is same like polar winter. It si not the temperature it is the winter corrosion.
