Indian Special Forces

Sadly even today the 20+ year gap between our SOF and the best of NATO still remains. the MAIN difference is that 20 years ago the Chinese and even the Russians were behind us. Now most militaries have lapped us - Eastern Europe, LATAM, SEA

our ego's only allow our world view to be Bangla, Pak, Lanka and Nepal - so we still the GOAT
Thatswhy we are looking for ceasefire on LOC…had we spent on upgrading we could be in a better position to dominate LOC by placing cameras like you suggest or putting more well trained long range snipers or using the night to dominate our fights.

But even the chief knows how capable we are..thatswhy the news comes that we are not looking to escalate even when Taliban is hammering on the west.

Any "Hammering" Will come only before the Next Election Cycle. No political gains to hammer away when election has been won

Not shocking, Some Police units have Barret Snipers also.
As far as I know, JKP and some NE state Police has Western Sniper Guns
I'm not shocked by the fact that police units use sniper rifles/marksman rifles. I'm just interested in knowing which police commando unit uses Sako snipers. I myself am trained on a steyr ssg69 rifle in use with JKP.

Disagree that the Russians were 'behind' us. The Spetsnaz have been traditionally under equipped compared to NATO elites. But never at the level of India. It may be true in case of the PLA...they didn't even have any dedicated SFs until the 90s. But they narrowed the gap by 2010. Back in the day they had a police 'commando' unit 'Snow Leopard ' that used to consistently humiliate foreign SFs in SWAT exercises.
