From the looks of it, its us who stopped the project and bangbros are compensating with murrica. Fine by us. Its still our diesel going to them. They wanna build it at 10x the price to spite us, good for them. This is smal potatoes for us. Ultimately the lion's share of income is going to be from the lifetime diesel export.

They have 30 MiG 29s and 18 Su-30s alongside other aircraft, much better in quality and quantity than the Kangal Air Force.

Traditionally the Burmese have never liked the Chinese throughout history. They didn't like the Indians too for taking over their entire economy during British rule & immediately after independence when these Indians mostly Bengalis Tamils & Marwaris were kicked out & their properties & businesses confiscated by the state ( incidentally the Tamils in Moreh , Manipur are the descendants of those Tamil traders booted out of Burma ) but their suspicion & dislike of the Chinese goes back a 1000 years.

Today the CCP has the junta by their balls. External sanctions inspired by the West has increased dependancies on the Han while the Han plays them like the fiddle also supporting the various Chinese & non Chinese insurgencies there .

Tatmadaw has often used India to counter balance the CCP there . It's more true today when they're totally besieged & beleaguered than ever before. The MEA had recently issued invites to the various rebel forces there to attend a conference on Myanmar . Didn't follow what happened beyond that or even kept a track of the participants.

Incidentally the Tatmadaw wasn't invited which means we're hedging. Btw we've also gifted them one of our Kilo class submarines.

Is Tatmadaw irredeemable?

Morality & ethics apart the right question to pose is are they in a position to survive this latest onslaught ? The Tatmadaw has shown a remarkable tendency since Independence to only fight everyone & everything without seeking some sort of permanent accomodation with even a single group in all these years .

And now they've gone & alienated the Bamars the single biggest ethnic group comprising just about more than 2/3 rds of the population & from whom most of the Tatmadaw including the senior leadership comes.

If they some sense than we can help them establish peace by Means of negotiations like how we did in NE.

It's upto them to initiate & they can do so by first reaching some sort of accomodation with the NLD & Aung San Syu Kyi while she's still alive for once she's gone the group will splinter making it that much more difficult to achieve peace though that maybe exactly what the Tatmadaw wants.

Yes & no . Why wouldn't the militants here accept peace if they're getting what they want without resorting to force. In other words we've let them fleece both the Indian state & the local population there . Look at the NSCN movement . They're openly extorting money plus if I'm not mistaken the Indian state is paying them for their upkeep thru slush funds.

Look at Mizoram & the way they defy the centre or the armed confrontation they had with Assam a few years earlier or their declaration of solidarity with the Kukis in Manipur with whom they share tribal kinship.

They actually displaced the only Hindu / Buddhist / animist group - the Brus living there since centuries only because they wouldn't convert & belong to a different tribe as compared to the Mizos . What's more they didn't want them settled in Tripura on the border with Manipur.

They've no industry worth the name nor are they self sustained in as far as agriculture goes. If it wasn't for Indian government funds & access to the mainland for education jobs medical aid etc where would they go ? To BD where they'd be treated like sh!t or Myanmar where they're more likely to invite a bullet between their eyes. And the same story holds true for all the NE except Assam to an extent.

For that to happen peace is a pre requisite. It's not coming in our lifetimes.

we talk about Bangladesh border, but not talked about Myanmar borders. which is open nd more easy to access than bangladesh border. we need to build solid border with myanmar nd bangladesh. beside this we should make border with nepal nd bhutan also. open border isnt good for us, specially if nepal give visa on arrival to india enemies like pakistan, bangladesh nd china.
