yeah....question is how ?
See the top half of Myanmar ? Yeah, that is the dreaded 'Burma road' region - like the Amazon forest, soft muddy soil, with an entire WALL of jungle you have to machete your way through, which ends in mountains that are walls of jungle.
Not even the US army can go through this terrain without taking absurd losses just from disease alone.
Entire Rakhine state is cut off from the central Myanmar plains by the Arakan Yoma, a thin line of very craggy mountains thats covered in jungle, with just a couple of passes. This region has historically been independent of Myanmar/vassals of Bengal/Magadh etc. as its main story of history, falling into Burmese orbit around 400 years ago, with the rise of the great Burmese empire ( i forget its name - Tuongoo or something or maybe it was kongbaung first) that ended up whacking Assam + Manipur (historically idependent kingdom) and ending up running into the Anglos.
There is little to no chance penetrating the Rakhine state itself ( big flat river crossing with no bridges and soft muddy soil), let alone getting to middle of Rakhine and then crossing over the Arakan Yoma (which will be like trying to beat the 300 in thermopylae, with them blocking the only pass wit their backs to the wall).
Coz, there is only two ways to attack myanmar by land:
a) through its southern border with Thailand, where two roads exist historically: The Sukhothai road, which is for the Thais to come in and scroo with Myanmar itself and the Davao road further south, which the Burmese use historically to go fuck over thailand, as its just a hop, skip and a jump away from the thai capital.
b) through China, in the Shan states-Kunming axis, which is the secondary way because its still highly circuituous and risky
So this leaves the 'anglo way' option: Show up in navy, blast ur way through Yangon and then work inland and take over the entire central burmese plain, the centre of power in Myanmar region.
So...what navy, is the question for our beedibhais.
