Coding General Discussion

Any idea if github will cause issue with creating account from proton mail? I heard not including 2FA might cause the account to be flagged
I haven't used proton mail, so I don't know. But I guess it should be fine.
I don't know about lack of 2fa getting accounts flagged, either. I have been using github for quite some time without 2fa, and it's been fine. But, I only have like 2 repos or so.

Hi all,

Does anybody know a 3D version of MS paint?
If i draw a shape in horizontal plane or top view, it'll look like flat line from side view. So if i wanna modify it in 3D, i could shift the view from top to side & then drag any corner of rectangle.
So i'm looking for such light-weight simple tool, compatible with 32-bit old laptops running Windows-7.
Apps like Blender, Fusion-360, Maya, 3DS-max, etc are heavy, for professionals & for 64-bit computers.

paint dot net, would require plugins for additional functionalities though but it's simple to use

and perhaps latest version of GIMP

Those tools appears to be like Adobe Photoshop, 3D effect of 2D pics.
But I need to draw lines in 3D coordinate system & manipulate the 3D coordinates of any point, basically a light-weight 32-bit version of Blender like CAD S/w. I tried its V2.78c but my laptop GPU doesn't use 3D H/w acceleration

but 3d drawing is possible on both
if you want lightweight CAD thing, then try freecad

I checked some of their videos on Youtube which didn't show 3D mesh drawings.
I checked quite some but many download links are broken or got some install error.
I'll check TinkerCAD, FreeCAD, etc.

That's free but heavy, it needs 64-bit computer.
I need very basic one for my old laptop, like back in 2000s.

>3d mesh drawing
oh then try this out too, it's damn old and developed by certain 'ballistic research laboratory' in the US, this was also used in development of XM-1 tank that eventually became M1 Abrams

Ok, after going through few pages i found x86 32-bit version, installed it. Although it has some predefined objects like cone, cylinder, ellipsoid, toroid, but it seems to have its own CLI commands, doesn't seem very user-friendly. It doesn't seem to allow holding a point & dragging by mouse.
IDK if i'll be able to recreate something like F-22 in this.:faint::faint2:
I'll check some YT tutorials & other tools.

:confusedd: well sir you mentioned 2000s era potato computer so it heavily limits choices for modern stuff,

otherwise there's librecad, freecad, blender of course and what not on free side of softwares,

then matlab + simulink if you are comfortable with matlab style matrix functions to draw objects,

if you have a relatively modern computer, try DS Catia

Late 2000s, not really potato, tomato. 🥔🍅:ROFLMAO: My laptops are like today's pocket friendly student versions.

IDK if old AutoCAD versions support making vehicles or just buildings.
I wish if C/C++ supported 3D graphics functions & commands.
I know some Python 🐍👀 but i don't wanna write code to make some new tool altogether.:smash::frusty:

Bcoz currently i'm compelled to use MS Paint for simple 2D black & white drawing edits, so a simple S/w for making line drawings or wire-frames would be enough.
So this way polygons can be defined & faceted surface can be generated choosing the corner points.

I don't need 3D view, lights, shadows, backgrounds, movements, animations, etc as they need more CPU, RAM.

So we see the same concept model can be made in different level of detail,
with numerous polygons with 3D view needing latest S/w,
or least # of polygons for just an outline & 2D view.

u can try older blender version . last 32bit i think was 2.78 .

not sure how well it will run on onboard intel laptops , but for simple wireframe eidting like in pic there wont be any issues.

still , making something like ur suggesting will take bit of effort . but u can just sketch it in paint , upload into blender and trace out the shape

there is also image to 3d ai , remember seeing free apps and links online , u give the ai 1 or 2 images then it will give u 3d model

Yeah, if we upload an image of top view & get its flat CAD then all we need to do is drag some points up/down, connect some points.
I did try the 32-bit Blender but it still needs 3D H/w acceleration GPU which my late 2000s laptop doesn't have. So it threw the error while installing. :smash: :facepalm2:
May be i'll have to check the 1st version of Blender. :ROFLMAO:

AI will do what IT thinks. Giving it precise dimensions, angles may not be possible.

I found some online Cloud CAD sites whose student or trial version are free for few months. I'll go for them if suitable offline versions re not found.

if u cant find anything , try old blender version from 2010

Did you make these ?

My college is going to begin from August , having no knowledge of coding whatsoever what should I start with?
Buy the book called 'data structure and algorithms'. Learn that first.
This is usually taught in 2nd/3rd semester in compsci/comp engineering whereas it should be the very first course. Before this course u won't understand why your programing language is doing what it is doing. After this course you will.
