Homi Bhabha and his Nuclear Team have arguably contributed more to the continuity of Indian civilization than many freedom fighters. I hesitate to say this, but it seems that most of our pre-independence leaders and politicians had a rather limited understanding of what it truly takes to build a nation.
The pre-independence freedom fighters were too focused on non-violence and human ideals, without a proper emphasis on the "machine" aspect—except for Subhas Chandra Bose, who at least built an army. What happened to a nation that once revered weapons like the Trishul and the Chakra?
Post-independence, it took Indira Gandhi to conduct nuclear tests, unlike her predecessor Nehru, who was still lost in the delusion of peaceful coexistence. By God's grace, we now have a nuclear weapons program that, while it may not prevent us from facing humiliation at times, ensures the survival of our civilization.
As for the 90% rural mindset of people who vote for politicians undermining our military, they only gain wisdom when they face the consequences of such neglect. Otherwise, these people would rather demand ₹1 lakh crore in freebies than support military modernization.
