LCA TEJAS MK-I & MK-IA: News and Discussion

Kaveri wants a word.
Just few questions
How much did our government actually invested in it ?
Do we even have basic testing facility for jet engine development?( We don't)
Why for 14 years no fund

Did you know iaf and mod denied su30 testbed for kaveri
Our leadership seriously lacks motivation to devloping a jet engine now after ge drama they realise it and wants to restart it

IDRW today says that Mk1 trainers will be delivered by March 2025. Whether or not they not right on the date, are the trainers scheduled for delivery before the Mk1A?

I don't trust any Indian press (it's rubbish for accuracy where military aircraft are concerned) and online is even worse but I am curious to know if the trainers are scheduled for delivery before Mk1A.
Mk1a is more important so already engines are limited they are using spare engines. So ig they might push down trainer as mk1a will boost combat capabilities..

I heard that we always had a few older Gen Electric F404-GE-F2J3 engines with HAL that was pre ordered for the prototypes.
What will happen to them? There was a proposal to use them for MK1A as an interim till the new Gen engines arrive. Its low thrust though. Dont know if its true.

Are these different F404 versions plug and play? If the F404-GE-F2J3 fits the Mk1A and there are a few available, why not put them all in the trainers? Lower thrust would not really matter much, would it?

I don't how many trainers under construction or delivered have -IN20 engines in them. Let me guess at 6. Those engines would keep Mk1A assembly going for quite a few months. The F404-GE-F2J3 engines in store and from Tejas prototypes would keep trainer assembly going for quite a few months. Result: more aircraft produced faster.

Of course, if it takes several months to decide to do it, the whole idea becomes pointless. That may already be the case - the time to make such a decision was before running out of -IN20 engines.

That's a one year delay already.
